Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Beat the butter and the sugar together until smooth. 
  3. Stir in the flour, salt and mix well to get a smooth paste. 
  4. Turn dough onto a floured surface and roll out until the paste is 1cm thick. 
  5. Cut into fingers (or Christmas trees, stars) and place on a baking tray; prick with fork. 
  6. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes. 
  7. Sprinkle with sugar. 
  8. Serve warm or cold.
