- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Beat the butter and the sugar together until smooth.
- Stir in the flour, salt and mix well to get a smooth paste.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and roll out until the paste is 1cm thick.
- Cut into fingers (or Christmas trees, stars) and place on a baking tray; prick with fork.
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
- Sprinkle with sugar.
- Serve warm or cold.
